About Me

Hello, I'm Maria 👩‍🎨
Welcome to my portfolio! ✨

If you've found your way here, you're probably looking for a designer with my skillset—and you've come to the right place! Let’s create something amazing together. 🎨💫
I am a creative and innovative, junior designer living in southern Sweden.

I've recently finished my Bachelor's degree in Digital Design & Innovation @Halmstad University
resulting in a Bachelor of Science in Digital Design & Innovation, with a major in Informatics. I recently completed a Project Management course, further strengthening my ability to lead and organise design projects effectively.

As a freelance UX/UI designer, I’m passionate about working on exciting and impactful projects. While I enjoy the flexibility of freelancing, I’m also open to a full-time role with the right company—one where I can apply my creativity, refine my skills, and grow as a designer.

I’m eager to contribute fresh ideas and craft meaningful user experiences.

Me

Looking Forward

As I step into the professional world, I'm excited to explore opportunities that allow me to grow as a designer. Whether it's working on new and exciting projects, meeting and collaborating with talented teams, or learning about emerging design trends, I am ready for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Below I have collected some of the work I have done during my studies. During my Bachelor we had a number of Design Studios which were courses that were practical project work based on design briefs from real clients. During these Design Studios we worked in groups, all given specific roles, with the aim to design prototype solutions for the clients. During my first Design Studio I was given the role - Project Leader, which I really enjoyed being.

Projects

Spring 2022

Design Studio 1

1st year

For our first Design Studio project, we were tasked with redesigning Halmstad University’s "Inside" intranet help pages, aimed at assisting teachers in applying for research funding. As Project Manager, I led the team through research, design, and development, ensuring a more intuitive and user-friendly experience. Our goal was to enhance navigation and accessibility, making it easier for faculty to find relevant funding information and resources within the university’s internal system.

Autumn 2022

Design Studio 2

2nd year

For my second Design Studio, we had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with Volvo Cars on a potential new feature. Our task was to take their initial idea and develop it into a concept. The result? A brand-new app prototype designed using Figma, that seamlessly integrates with Volvo’s existing ecosystem. Discover how we transformed a concept into a working prototype!

Spring 2023

Design Studio 3

2nd year

Designed as a trusted digital companion, we designed an AI-powered chatbot to provide a safe space for children to express their emotions, receive reassurance, and access helpful resources. Using AI-driven interactions, it recognises emotional cues, offers personalised coping strategies, and connects users to relevant support services—making mental health support more accessible and discreet than ever. This project focused on developing a tool to support children facing stress and mental health challenges, empowering them with guidance and comfort whenever they need it.

Spring 2024

Design Studio 4

3rd year

My first independent Design Studio project! I reimagined the user experience of Prins Bertils Stig, a scenic coastal trail in Halmstad. I designed a responsive digital solution featuring interactive navigation, trail insights, live safety measures, and accessibility features, making outdoor exploration more engaging, secure, and inclusive. This project aimed to enhance overall well-being and the way visitors experience the trail, providing a seamless and intuitive digital companion for their journey.

Project EDEN

Project Management

In a world dominated by screens, our team set out to create an innovative, sustainable event designed to get kids moving, socialising, and engaging with nature again. Using recycled materials, interactive obstacle courses, and community-driven design, we developed a two-day pilot event that combined fun, fitness, and sustainability. Find out how we brought this vision to life and how it could reshape the way children play!
